Risks and opportunities
Arise is one of Sweden’s leading players within land-based wind power, having installed 648 MW land-based wind power since its founding in 2007, of which 139 MW are still in the company’s possession. The core business is the development of wind farms and selling them to investors, in addition to own-electricity production from its own wind farms, which were refinanced in 2018 with a SEK 650m green bond. Arise is widely exposed to the opportunities from renewable energy, such as energy efficiency and fossil fuel replacements, as well as carbon emission reductions. The company has chosen to primarily focus its efforts on one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, number 7, “Sustainable energy for everyone”. Furthermore, Arise is concentrating on being a sustainable business, an attractive employer, and a responsible business in terms of developing environmental and climate-efficient solutions.
ESG activities
As wind power farms are built, carbon emissions are reduced and jobs are created, often locally. As construction and project development often require an external workforce, much of the supply chain cannot be directly controlled by Arise – however, it has a code of conduct and suppliers should comply with it. As project development is human-capital intense, it is imperative that employees are satisfied and feel motivated. This is of great importance in order to attract and to keep high-quality personnel. Going forward, Arise will seek to continue producing own renewable electricity and develop and divest wind farms in order to enhance the production of green electricity in Sweden thus reducing carbon emissions. It will also seek to increase its eNPS as human capital is of great value, and ensure that suppliers comply with its code of conduct regarding working environment, safety and anticorruption.
