The first award was granted to Professor Matti Keloharju in 2014. Doctoral dissertation award granted to study of financial market efficiency In her doctoral dissertation for Svenska handelshögskolan, 'Essays on Financial Market Frictions and Imperfections', Salla Pöyry, DSc (Econ), studies the limitations that decrease the efficiency of financial markets. The study examines price formation and the functionality of capital markets, particularly with regard to market limitations caused by prevailing institutional conditions or behaviour deviating from investor expectations. The dissertation consists of four essays and an introduction. The essays deal with the mutual influence factors between company-level variables and the portfolio concentration of investors, the fragmentation of the stock market, and the increasing trade outside stock exchanges, temporal trends in stock prices on the US market, and the possibilities for Russian companies to finance their operations through the bond market. Two of the essays have been published in well-regarded international journals.
