Doro offers products and services that facilitate senior and disabled people in their daily lives. Thus, the company supports the demographical trend of an ageing population, a trend that is challenging for society in terms of increased costs and resources relating to supervision, etc. Doro does not produce its products itself. Instead, it uses external suppliers, for instance through partners in China. Although its product sales leave some environmental footprint (electronical waste), we think that Doro’s primary ESG risks relate to privacy, data security and product liability, given 1) the large amount of personal data it possesses; and 2) the required 24/7 accessibility of its service business.
Numerous ESG initiatives
As a reflection of the above-mentioned operations, Doro’s ESG initiatives are supporting the UN’s goal of enhanced equality among the different groups in society. Furthermore, Doro scrutinises and certifies its various operations proactively in order to ensure that these meet standards for sufficient quality (ISO 9000), environment footprint (ISO 14000), and data security (ISO 27000). Although it does not specify any quantified ESG targets or report any distinct ESG data, Doro has stated three ESG goals: 1) reduced inequality; 2) sustainable and efficient use of natural resources; and 3) sustainable transportation of products. The former two objectives relate to UN goals while the latter is an internal goal that Doro tracks on a monthly basis. In addition to these, Doro has internal goals on data security, although it has currently chosen not to communicate these externally as it believes it could increase the associated risks.
